Permata Indonesia is an organization that concerns on improving quality of life of people affected by leprosy and their families. To realize this purpose the Permata Indonesia provides a scholarship program to members of PerMaTa and their family. The scholarships are given to members of PerMaTa who still interested to continue their education and less capable in terms of financing. Scholarships are also given to the children of members of disadvantaged Permata’s members who wish to pursue their higher education.

The PerMaTa Scholarship in 2010 is only awarded for those who wish to continue their education at secondary school and university levels. For this year there are about 31 students receiving scholarships to high school level and 9 students to universities spread across three provinces are East Java, East Nusa Tenggara and South Sulawesi.

The scholarship program is expected to create the PerMaTa young cadres who have higher education and be able to speak up the aspirations of the people affected by leprosy. PerMaTa Indonesia scholars bound by a stipulation that each grantee must make time to contribute to any activity undertaken by PerMaTa Indonesia. (cak)
